Club lacrosse can be a very valuable and rewarding experience for many players.  For those that are new to Club lacrosse, there are many different Club teams to choose from.  Club teams play during the off-season (they do not conflict with the traditional recreation council season from March 1st through the first weekend in June) and provide a year round experience.  Most Club teams play tournaments in the summer and fall.  From my experience (and talking with others), each Club team has its own culture.  The key to a successful experience is to pick the Club team that has a culture that most closely matches the goals of your daughter and your family.  Some Clubs are more demanding on time, while others require less of a time commitment. Some Clubs require a fee to participate while others do not have a registration fee and are “pay as you go”.  In a “pay as you go” scenario you are paying for a uniform and the tournament fees that the team plays in.  Club teams are organized by grade level (not age), categorized by graduation year, and typically have open evaluations annually.  Evaluations are usually in the December/January/February timeframe and start with girls that are 5th graders – so they start the summer before entering 6th grade and run through high school.
