The Lightning travel program is intended to create a fun, learning environment to develop basic skills and an enjoyment of the game of lacrosse.  The girls play with a regulation girl’s stick and ball as they develop more advanced stick skills and field awareness.  Additional equipment needed includes protective eyewear, a mouth guard, and proper footwear (cleats).  All of our Lightning teams participate in the league sponsored by the Maryland Youth Lacrosse Association (MYLA).  Teams are put together based upon evaluations.  The intent of the evaluations is to properly place each player by skill level to give her the best opportunity to develop individual lacrosse skills, team concepts, and to have fun.  Teams are placed in the MYLA league by skill level.  Based upon projected registration, Cockeysville will have four (4) Lightning teams as follows: 1 “A”, 1”B”, and 2 “C” teams.   Game days and times are dictated by MYLA and include weekday and/or weekend games.
 
Outdoor evaluations for the Lightning level are scheduled for Saturday, February 28th and Sunday, March 1st from 10:30AM to 12:00PM at Mays Chapel.  An indoor evaluation may be scheduled for earlier in February if we can secure indoor field time.  You will receive an email if an indoor evaluation is scheduled.

 

The Lightning age group practices from 5:30PM to 7:00PM on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at either County Home Park or Mays Chapel.

 

The registration fee is $125.00 per player.
