The Tyker (7-8) in-house program is intended to create a fun, learning environment to develop basic skills and an enjoyment of the game of lacrosse.  The girls play with a regulation girl’s stick and ball to develop the proper feel and technique during their early years of lacrosse.  Additional equipment needed includes protective eyewear, a mouth guard, and proper footwear (cleats) for a grass field.  The focus of the program is instruction and fun.  The girls are divided into teams for practice and play controlled games that are 8 vs. 8 on a small field with regulation goals.  There are 7 field players and 1 goalie.  The coaches are on the field with the girls providing instruction and teaching points.
 
The program for 2009 will be held at the fields at Mays Chapel.  Tyker (7-8) Opening Day is Saturday, March 14th from 2:00PM to 3:30PM.  The schedule for the regular season is Monday and Wednesday evenings at Mays Chapel from 5:30PM to 7:00PM.  The season ends with a Round Robin tournament.
 
The registration fee is $80.00 per player.
